Abstract

Power quality issues are of serious concern to many utilities and electrical power users. This article surveys the techniques developed and employed for power quality monitoring, namely the precise and continuous measurement of the instantaneous frequencies and magnitudes of the fundamental component and harmonics in the waveforms of power disturbances. The authors outline the desirable attributes of a novel technique that is able to overcome the drawbacks of existing methods.
