Different probabilistic models for classification and predic tion problems are analyzed in this paper studying their be havior and capability in data classification. To show the capability of Bayesian networks to deal with classifica tion problems four types of Bayesian networks are intro duced: General Bayesian Network, Naive Bayes, General Bayesian Network Augmented Naive Bayes and Tree Aug mented Naive Bayes. Finally, the application of Bayesian networks to classification of spectral remote sensing im ages and power system security assessment, are shown.
