Intelligent search techniques, string matching, information retrieval (IR), desktop search.
In this paper we present a short survey and experimental results for the techniques used by well-known search engine “Google” with the techniques used by our Mixed Heuristic Algorithm for string searching/information retrieval. We used Google desktop search program to obtain the search results of Google to compare with the results obtained by Mixed Heuristic Algorithm. For improved information retrieval we put special emphasis on the searching techniques used by Google and Mix Heuristic. We compare these algorithms in terms of the accuracy, intelligence/collective intelligence, user friendliness/assimilation and the reliability/probability of success for different types of text and searching queries.
