Tracking Systems, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality.
Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) systems almost always require tracking a viewer’s position and orientation in the real world. In this paper we propose a low-cost hybrid tracking system that keeps the real and virtual worlds registered at all times. The system will be part of a mobile unit for visual annotation of objects in a storage facility. We use an open source marker based system like the AR Toolkit library and inexpensive hardware, like USB webcams and commer cial GPS units.
