Finding egdes in textured images is a very difficult task. An extension to the well-known Hough Transform for find ing straight lines in images is given in this paper. Instead of suppressing useful edge information in the preceeding edge detector, the raw edge data is used in the Hough trans formation directly. This approach clearly outperforms the classical one in highly textured and rich contrast images.
