A Ray-based Subpixel Detection Algorithm for Contour Pixels of a Circle

In this paper we present a novel technique to determine a circle boundary with subpixel precision. This method does not require all grayvalues in a wide detection area of a con tour pixel. Only grayvalues along rays starting from an approximately known circle center are used. By applying a model based one dimensional edge detector, contour pix els with subpixel precision can be computed. Experiments with both synthetic and real images indicate the effective ness of the proposed algorithm.
