Abstract

The vision of geographically disperse grid computing and its potential benefits have existed for over a decade. Re lease GT3.2 of the Globus Grid Toolkit contains two tools, Condor-G and grid services, that can be used with the AMPL framework to provide engineering design improve ments for non linear constrained optimization. These tools were used with AMPL in an experimental course at Elon University for intelligent design optimization. The ad vantages demonstrated by using the Globus Toolkit with AMPL by the students during the course are enumerated.
