Abstract

Grid computing is emerging as a new environment for solv ing difficult problems. Linear and nonlinear optimization problems can be computationally expensive. Elon Univer sity has developed a unique undergraduate course called In telligent Decision Making, which applies the latest in grid computing with linear and nonlinear optimization tech niques. Students of this course experience real world de cision problems similar to those found in industry and are taught to apply grid computing techniques on these prob lems. The course allows students to demonstrate character istics expected of graduates of a computer science major.
