Abstract

In the 19th and 20th centuries, the notion of the "art object" prevailed in much of Western art. With the advent of networks and virtual space, the aesthetics that informed the culture of the "art object" may no longer apply. How do we develop a new and relevant system of aesthetics for art “events” and projects that exist primarily in the virtual space of a high-speed network?
