Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the experimental data obtained from electroencephalograms (EEGs). Using the analytical results we intend to construct a reliable communication system between humans and computers. When a person visualizes a character in mind, a special signal appears on his/her EEG. The signal is considered a kind of an event related potential (ERP). In this paper, we discuss how to obtain ERPs caused by visualizing homonyms, how to indicate whether homonyms cause different ERPs or not, and how to clarify the difference among various ERPs. By the analysis of our experimental data, it is confirmed that EPRs caused by homonyms are different from each other and the homonyms can be distinguished by the ERPs in some cases.
