The segmentation of heart sounds into diagnostically relevant components is a fundamental task in computer aided auscultation. In this paper, we develop an approach to segmentation that is resilient to the nonstationarity and variability of these sounds, and demonstrate its performance for a variety of sound types, both normal and indicative of pathology.
