Multimedia Conferencing, Content Distribution, CSCW, Shared Whiteboards
This paper proposes a generic architecture and protocol for adaptive distribution of multimedia content within collaborative conferencing sessions, supplying applications like presentation sharing, co-browsing, or application sharing with extensive content. Applications building upon it are able to use efficient decoupled content delivery with adaptation in a tightly coupled environment while integrated interaction features like annotations, telepointer, and chat are still available. Building blocks from content networking research are combined with concepts of IP conferencing. A system for presentation sharing and photo sharing was implemented as a proof of concept.
