Abstract

A user who wants to obtain information from portal services often compares multiple search results repeatedly. To help users perform this kind of search, we propose creating a comparison chart, which is composed of properties for comparison and their values, by automatically extracting metadata from text information stored in portal services. This paper describes how to extract comparison information by using ontologies even if there are relatively few initial property definitions, which are components of ontologies. It also describes the “Semantic i TOWNPAGE”, which is a prototype portal service for store comparison based on our method.
