Abstract

With increasing emphasis and reliance upon everything from Network security and e-commerce to remote access and authentication, PKI is rapidly becoming an essential piece of the information age. However, there are several factors that have kept PKI from widespread deployment among which is lack of interoperability between different PKI-deployments. This paper gives a general overview of the current PKI interoperability efforts sighting the different interoperability models being used. It also gives a detailed analysis of the bridge certification authority (BCA), the favoured model in interoperability efforts in China.
