microstrip antennas - finite periodic structures – high permittivity substrate – high bandwidth
A microstrip-fed equilateral triangular microstrip antenna (ETMA) on a finite periodic surface with square patches (SPs), placed on a substrate with high permittivity, is designed and simulated. The effect on the impedance, bandwidth, gain, far field pattern and the total efficiency is investigated. Based on the observations we can conclude that using SPs gives a higher bandwidth than in case no SPs are used, however the total efficiency decreases. No effect on the gain and far field pattern is observed.
