Abstract

The joint use of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and wireless networks allows new possibilities for the development of distributed applications. In this paper we present the use of a Pocket PC in the context of nuclear power plant simulators. The purpose of the presented application is to help in the teaching work of the simulation session instructor, thereby making the subsequent performing of actions on the full scope simulators easier. The developed application uses Real time CORBA (RT-CORBA) as communication infrastructure and Windows CE as operating system. The use of these technologies opens up exciting new horizons for the development of distributed real-time applications in embedded systems.
