Application of IR Thermography for Defects Detection in Train Car Wheel Pairs

In this paper the possibility of infrared detectors application for the revealing of transparent defects in the wheel disk is described. The method of the defect revealing based on thermal flow behavior detected by IR camera is presented. Experiments on transparent crack detection in infrared wave were carried out. It was shown that the defect revealing method in the static wheel could be developed. The model describing a behavior of thermal flow near defects is created.
