Abstract

This paper deals with the transient over voltages due to switching operations in distribution system capacitor banks. The influence of the partial failure in capacitor banks during switching operation on the generation of over voltages is studied. A method for diagnosis of partial failure of capacitance in a capacitor bank during switching operations, by the analysis of load current using wavelets, is presented.
