: The key technique of APFActive Power Filteris the fast and precise detection of load current`s harmonic components. In order to solve to the problem of complication in the method of detecting of harmonics in single- phase circuitthe paper extended the concept of instantaneous power theory to the single-phase circuit. A new method based on the single-phase PQ theory to obtain the harmonic current was presented. And this method of detecting harmonic current can be simply implemented with hardware. Simulations are carried out to show that the single-phase APF, which is based on this method, can compensate harmonic current in single-phase circuit effectively.
