Abstract

The conventional method of determining and allocation of reactive power costs based on power factor could not provide exact criteria for pricing of reactive power. Continuous and appropriate reactive power support security needs to provide enough motivation for generators of reactive powers. This motivation requires building an appropriate economic structure for determination and allocating of reactive power. In this paper direct and indirect costs of generation and transmission are used for determining reactive power costs. Then the generalized tracing method is proposed for allocating standard 30 bus power system reactive power costs. The simulation result shows that the proposed method could provide appropriate applicable allocation for generation and transmission cost to the power users in an appropriate calculation time.
