Electromagnetic transients, phase-domain models,transmission lines and cables.
The paper develops a new procedure for synthesizing in the phase variables z-plane functions for representing individual elements of the forward impulse response matrix for overhead transmission line or underground cable. The difficulty in the syntheses arising from the oscillations in the frequency-domain of the matrix elements is removed in the procedure. Components associated with individual modes that contribute to each matrix element are first evaluated in the frequency domain. The synthesis is then carried out for individual components the magnitudes of which are smooth functions in the frequency domain as there are no interactions amongst the components associated with different modes. The procedure developed is tested with representative distributed-parameter transmission circuit.
