This paper proposes an approach for computation of the retransmission timeout. The proposed approach is based on the Weibull distribution; by taking into account the pa rameters and statistical properties of the distribution. The approach is motivated by various properties of the Weibull. With this approach the response function of RTO time is found to be dependent primarily on the parameter of the Weibull. Simulation results show that this approach re duces the number of early timeouts, especially for large values of .
