Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), Interference Channel, Near Far Problem, Upstream Power backoff (UPBO), Power Control
This paper investigates power control problem in a frequency selective multiuser interference channel. The objective of rate and power control is to maximize the achievable rate region, given an average power constraint for each user. We present distributed and centralized multiuser power control algorithms for digital subscriber lines (DSL) by formulating the rate and power control problem in two ways - rate maximization and power minimization. We suggest a multiuser centralized power control algorithm which when applied to the very high bit rate digital subscriber lines (VDSL) upstream transmission gives better performance than the distributed and other centralized multiuser power control algorithms.
