To represent and control the motion of animated characters for computer animations easily, it is necessary to construct a model using which we can control the motions with an intuitive and easy-to-use interface. To construct the model, we analyze the human motion data captured with a motion capture system. Initially, we clarify that the human walking motion is composed of a few hierarchical sub-motions that are independent of each other. Then, we extract some mo tion control parameters from the captured human walking motions with physical alteration. Finally, we demonstrate that it is possible to control the motions appropriately.
