Wireless technologies, education, impacts, research needs
An effective use of new information technologies like wireless ones can help education and further education institutions to meet complex responsibilities that impact individuals, society and economy. Many attempts have been made to apply these technologies also in e-learning environments, mainly to improve flexibility of learning processes. In this paper we consider some impacts of wireless technologies on education particularly in connection with e-learning environments and present some obstacles to social science research on mobile technologies and needs for building interdisciplinary research efforts to recognize, understand and even anticipate impacts of such technologies. An example of a contribution to promote research in this field and the use of wireless technology for education is given within a European cooperation.
