Abstract

An object-oriented model for knowledge networks is presented. It comprises the basic classes knowledge container, knowledge unit, content unit, person, location, time, and relationship. The model can be refined via derivation and thus be adapted for a wide variety of knowledge repositories. The formalized model is a vital prerequisite for automated handling and processing of explicit knowledge e.g. by software agents.
