Abstract

Quality inspection should be planned carefully in order to ensure the regular quality testing and its optimum integration into the production. Each inspection strategy has different impact on the performance of the production, especially on the production cost, quality, and time. While determining the suitable inspection strategy, all of these three aspects should be considered at the same time. Therefore, a simulation approach was introduced to assist in the inspection planning. The simulator called QUINTE was developed to aid the evaluation of various inspection strategies in manufacturing processes concerning costs, cycle time, and product quality. In this research, the concept of QUINTE was extended into a new simulator "SixSigma" for assembly processes.
