Recent trends in management of diverse, large and compu tational intensive data resources refer to the OGSA specifi cations for the development of grid infrastructures capable of efficiently handling such information. In this paper, LU Grid, the architecture of a digital library of University data is introduced. It is a service-oriented architecture based on the OGSA specifications, as well as on common Web tech nologies such as the Web browser and Web server. The design of the proposed architecture takes into account the emerging need to exploit the semantics of its underlying information through the employment of adequate technolo gies such as RDF.
