Abstract

Since the notion of business process proved successful in integrating the major aspects of a single organization, i.e. activities, roles and business objects, it is now challenging to study how to relate business processes with cross enterprise collaboration issues. This paper emphasizes the similarities between collaborations and business processes and introduces the notion of collaboration process in order to define collaboration types. Uniformity brings several advantages in terms of notation and support tools. A support environment, called bProgress, is also presented: its tools make the models of business and collaboration processes operational.
