Abstract

A business transaction is an interaction in the real world, usually between an enterprise and a person or between enterprises, where something is exchanged. Business transactions where dealing is made by first requesting the offers and then making the deal, are common in B2B. A problem is that neither the transaction models nor the workflow models developed to B2B support negotiation. In this paper we describe an Internet based prototype system, which supports transactional offer-based negotiation. The main components of the system are user agents, web services and a workflow engine. The specifications of the workflows enforced by the engine are in BPEL4WS.
