Abstract

The Taguchi method is widely used to find an optimum setting of manufacturing process parameters. This paper is concerned with multi-response optimisation problems in the Taguchi method. For the same purpose, desirability functions have been used in the statistical literature. However, it should be addressed that measuring desirability has a vague aspect in nature. This paper proposes a novel method for the multi-response optimisation by embedding desirability functions onto fuzzy logic. The proposed approach is illustrated by example data of a face milling operation.
