Abstract

An efficient approach to track objects with shadows is presented. The algorithm can eliminate the distracting influence from shadows and track the shape of real objects outdoor and indoor. These methods use the invariant colour models and a new extern force, to guide the deformation process to snake boundaries which correspond to material boundaries. This new extern force called virtual electric field (VEF) and has shorter processing time than the gradient vector flow (GVF). The quality of the results can be significantly improved by employing the colour gradient. This can be very useful for higher level vision processing.
