The study and modeling of debris flow is quite important because of their destructive power. Debris flow waves may be triggered by dam breaks. This paper present a proce dure to process high speed recordings of an experimental set-up; the procedure is able to detect the black particles placed in the flow and to compute their displacements. The resulting quantities are being used to tune the mathematical description of the observed flows.
