Conventionally the problem of degraded image restoration has been considered from the point of view the of observa tion space noise only and any degradation of image is mod elled as the observation space noise. However, the noise in herently present in the degraded images, irrespective of the observation process, can not be accurately modelled under this assumption. Such a noise is called the signal space noise. In this paper, we present an image restoration model which also incorporates the acquisition of noisy continuous images. A restoration filter, namely, the partial projection filter, is obtained which gives an optimal restoration of the original image in the presence of both the signal space and observation space noises.
