Shallow water equations, characteristics method, mixed finite elements, a priori error estimates
In this paper, we investigate from a numerical point view a priori error estimates for a characteristics mixed finite ele ment approximation of shallow water equations. Many nu merical results validating the error estimates are performed on a sample example with a rectangular domain. In ad dition, realist test describing a free flow in a trapezoidal channel domain is presented.
