This paper proposes a new method to stabilize an unstable orbit in piecewise smooth dynamical systems. We modify the external force control method which has been devel oped by Pyragas. We firstly formulate piecewise smooth systems and their external force control briefly. As a new proposal, we introduce a control method called partial ex ternal force control. The control input is applied to the system when the orbit stays on a specific state space. We show an example to demonstrate availability of this control scheme by numerical simulations.
