Abstract

A fuzzy logic approach is devised to implement service restoration of electrical power distribution networks. It is important for the operators to reach a proper service restoration plan outside the faulted zone; such a restoration plan must satisfy many of the practical needs and objectives such as minimal number of switching operations, no interrupted customers, and no overloaded components. Operators often use heuristic rules which are expressed in imprecise linguistic terms. A fuzzy logic approach is devised to deal with these imprecise linguistic variables. It is found that fast, reliable, and economic operation can be reached efficiently by this approach.
