Abstract

Fourier analysis is used in many areas of circuit analysis and its applications span many practical areas. However, its implementation to computer programming is not optimal due to the use of complex numbers. The Hartley transform presents a more efficient method to produce Fourier-like transforms with only real numbers. The Hartley transform is based on the cas(C) kernel and has all the major properties of a Fourier transform, but produces only real values. This paper presents an assessment of the Hartley Transform for power quality measurement, and the portability of actual power quality indices into the Hartley Domain.
