Abstract

In this paper we propose a new algorithm to compute the optimal tuning parameters for a proportional-plus integral-plus-derivative (PID) controller for a closed loop high order system with the time delay. The mean squared error involving both the regulating input and the disturbance is minimized. All the calculations are performed in symbolic form, so that the effect of each parameter can be determined.
