Gabor filters, reassembling broken pieces of pottery, archaeology.
We propose a method for detecting linear patterns on bro ken pieces of pottery using a Gabor filter. This method de tects linear patterns on potsherds, that is, extracts the direc tion and region of the patterns. We compared our method with image moments to extract the patterns. As a result, our method indicated better performance than image mo ments.
