Abstract

The Web has proved to be very effective in delivering and distributing business information everywhere. Extending the Web to deliver business applications has been more challenging due to limited interface capabilities and performance. Technologies are emerging to enable the development and deployment of next-generation rich-client Internet applications. In this article, we identify the requirements for these applications and categorize the various architecture models that current and emerging technologies employ. These models provide an architecture framework for the future development of technologies and solutions.
