Abstract

We consider the problem of overload conditions for com munication systems that belong to weakly hard real-time systems. In these systems, the strict respect of all dead lines is not needed in many situations, such as multimedia communication, IVOD systems or control systems. We in troduce some of the aggregated QoS requirements in a uni form formula that allows for scheduling with the consider ation of various performance measures, such as burst size, loss rate, etc. The proposed QoS-based scheduling scheme may have hidden benefits for a.o. scheduling of multimedia data streams which have not been previously explored.
