Abstract

: Instructors across many disciplines have a strong desire to expand their traditional course offerings into an online setting in order to provide educational opportunities to previously underserved student populations. Some academic institutions have strong infrastructures to support faculty as they move to an online environment including web educational support systems such as BlackBoard or WebCT. Others rely on traditional web pages to provide the online content. This paper discusses the automatic generation of online quizzes for faculty with minimal programming experience to facilitate the online learning process outside the boundaries of traditional web educational support systems. This capability also can be incorporated into web educational support systems to customize content and increase the level of control the instructor has over the educational process.
