Terrain Visualization, Contour Lines, Map Information Processing
We wanted to visualize the topographic data available from maps in three dimensions. The idea was to first extract a two dimensional rectangular region from the map, and then use it for visualization. Contour line extraction of this data is the main problem addressed in the paper. In particular, we dealt with partial contour lines as some of the contour lines are clipped away in the two dimensional rectangular region. Results are presented and future research areas are identified.
