Abstract

Numerous models and information technologies exist that can be used to assist solving environmental problems. In this paper we analyze several spatio-temporal levels and goals of regional environmental management. Regional management procedures use a set of models (including simulation models) and special environmental information technologies. The technologies include monitoring systems, databases, simulation models, artificial intelligence modules, and decision support systems. This approach allows decision makers to have unified procedures to manage regional environmental quality from local short-term problems to regional long term sustainable development problems.
