Improved performance in the editing and rendering of placed constructs in feature-based solid models is ad dressed via a reuse strategy. The strategy enables a model update without regeneration of all features placed subse quent to the edited feature. The impact of the strategy's caching mechanism on performance is examined using a large census of parts.
