Abstract

This paper deals with the simultaneous determination of pricing and seat allocations in a series rapid transit booking system. It is assumed that the demands are price dependent and the rail company progressively increases the discounts to sell their seats. The purpose of this paper is to develop a computational approach for finding the initial selling prices and the number of discount so as to maximize the total profit for the whole series-railway network. Numerical results for 30 test problems are examined and reported. As reported in this paper, the solutions found by our approach are all better than the solutions obtained by the conventional genetic algorithm.
