Optimal Control of SBR based on Minimal Energy Consumption

An optimal control scheme for sequencing batch reactor (SBR) to meet the wastewater effluent standard with minimal energy consumption is proposed. The software for computation of sequencing batch reactor for nutrient removal is developed based on the Activated Sludge Model (ASM2d) issued by Work Groups of International Water Association (IWA), combined with the features of SBR. MATLAB simulation platform and C++ programming language are selected to build the simulation model of SBR, which can be used to evaluate the results of control strategies based on it. Simulation shows that this optimal control scheme has a significant effectiveness on reaching the control goals.
