Abstract

The paper begins by looking at the state of the art in the area of graphical/spatial navigation forms, creating a classification schema to express the degree of collaboration in the generation and use of spatial maps and navigation aids. It then goes on to extend the resulting taxonomy to aspects relating to the collaborative structuring of knowledge. The aim is to create a basis for classifying and evaluating the characteristics of different approaches. What we obtain is a concept for the collaborative structuring of virtual knowledge spaces. Extensive experience has already been gained here using the Jour Fixe approach as an example of self-organized and spatial knowledge-construction processes.
