This paper seeks to identify a theoretical link between a model of written composition and processes observed by others in a visual storytelling exercise. It also argues that, although many software tools exist to help children tell sto ries in pictures, the great majority at least suffer from sig nificant inflexibility and do not take advantage of the role of the camera as a mediator of narrative point-of-view. It proposes a new tool to address these issues, and describes current progress in implementing that tool in Java.
